Craft a Flower Press!

Craft a Flower Press!

A place for flowers to live on forever.. and a craft that keeps on giving - what's not to love?!

You will need:

a cardboard box

watercolour paints, crayons, felts or pencils for colouring

thick rubber bands x 2

paper towel x 12

flowers

How to:

  1. Cut your cardboard box up into squares approximately 20cm x 20cm - we make our flower press with seven layers of card but if you can only fit six thats ok!
  2. Decorate the top layer of your press with your floral masterpiece - we used watercolour for ours! You can paint other card layers too and switch them up as the cover when you remove your flowers each time.
  3. Cut your paper towel into the same 20cm x 20cm squares - we use this as the blotting paper as it is far more cost effective and does the job perfectly! You will need two squares of paper towel for each layer. (eg seven pieces of card makes six layers, you will need 12 squares of paper towel)
  4. Collect your flowers!
  5. Fill the first layer of your press in this order... cardboard square, paper towel square, flowers, paper towel square, cardboard square - kind of like a paper burger. Then repeat!
  6. Once your flower press is filled (you don't have to fill all six layers at once) - pop your beautiful flower press painted lid on top. secure your press with rubber bands - pulling the band on one corner and stretching it to the corner diagonally across from it. Then repeat with the second rubber band for the other two corners.
  7. Leave your flower press to dry in a warm spot + open in a week or so to create floral art, cards, paper gardens, bookmarks and all things floral!

Just remember, craft isn't serious, it's just seriously filled with love!
